Newcastle United striker Demba Ba has not signed for Turkish club Galatasaray.
Sky Italia and other digital sources in Europe today reported a deal had been completed to take the Senegalese striker to Istanbul for next season.
The Magpies don't comment directly on individual transfer rumours. But the story gathered such momentum that club officials did give an off-the-record briefing, confirming there's no truth whatsoever in the reports.
The 27-year old scored 16 goals during his debut season on Tyneside and Newcastle would like him to stay. But the club are bracing themselves for a long summer of transfer rumours, because it's common knowledge Demba Ba has a release clause in his contract.
The exact amount that triggers the clause is a grey area - some have claimed it's as low as £7 million, others put it closer to £11 million.
The bottom line is Demba Ba is potentially available for a price that would be considered much lower than his current market value.
