Sunderland lifeboat launched twice in one day

Volunteers from Sunderland RNLI Station took part in two rescue missions yesterday. The lifeboat's first launch happened shortly after 3:06pm after being alerted by an emergency 999 call from a member of the public concerned that a dinghy or catamaran had capsized.

After the Lifeboat had been recovered, cleaned and refuelled the crew at Sunderland launched a second time at 5.43pm, this time to a vessel that had broken down off Hendon beach.

The boat and the five males on board were brought back to Sunderland marina safely under tow.

This afternoon is a real testament to the commitment of the volunteers at Sunderland RNLI but also to the continued support we have received as a charity from the people of Sunderland, it is that support which allows us to continue saving lives in Sunderland.
