A man has been arrested in connection with a hit and run in South Tyneside that left another man in hospital with serious injuries.
The 22 year old pedestrian was hit by a silver state car on Westoe Road, South Shields in the early hours of yesterday (Monday 25 June). He was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle with a head injury where he remains in a stable condition.
A 49 year old man was arrested in relation to the incident but was later bailed pending further enquiries.
