Police drafted in after G4S shortages
Police officers have been called in to boost Olympic venue security in Newcastle, only days after troops were drafted in to fill gaps in London because of G4S staffing shortages. Newcastle will host Olympic football in just ten days.
Local officers from Northumbria Police have been called in to help the security firm G4S after only a fraction of its staff showed up to protect teams arriving in the North East at the weekend.
