Hitachi train contract confirmed

The government has confirmed a £4.5 billion pound contract to build the next generation of Britain's Intercity Trains will be completed by Hitachi, at the company's plant in Newton Aycliffe, County Durham.

County Durham granted Hitachi train contract

The Government have confirmed that a multi-billion pound contact to build new high speed trains will go ahead in County Durham.

Japanese firm Hitachi first announced that the Amazon Park site in Newton Aycliffe was it's preferred choice in 2009. Transport Secretary Justine Greening MP confirmed the deal today.
