£22,000 winning bid for Sir Jimmy Savile's yellow bubble car

The owner of a care home near Stockton-on-Tees has explained why she spent £22,000 on Sir Jimmy Savile's yellow bubble car after the DJ did a good turn for her residents.

Angela Swift said Sir Jimmy opened one of her homes in Yarm and would not take a fee despite other celebrities asking for between £15,000 and £20,000 to turn up.

Now she said she wanted to replay the generosity and give something back to his charitable trust.

It's a way of coming and giving something back to his charity. And we get a bubble car with it too. He was just a caring person. He's special. There's no one like him.
