The North East will be represented at the1500m Olympic final tonight.
21 year old Laura Weightman from Alnwick is coached by Olympic silver medallist and former world champion Steve Cram.
Laura, who is a member of the Morpeth Harriers, has been training in Hexham in the run-up to the Olympics.
She made it through to the final, after recording a new personal best of 4:02:99 in the semi-final on Wednesday.
Tonight's race starts at 2055hrs.
