Berwick MP Sir Alan Beith has invited the new Transport Secretary to see the 'urgent need for investment' in the A1.
Patrick McLoughlin has taken over the transport brief from Justine Greening as part of the cabinet reshuffle.
Sir Alan has called on Mr McLoughlan to visit the road in Northumberland. The Berwick representative says he will make the case for work on the A1 for economic and safety reasons.
