Friends have described a sixteen year old who drowned in the River Wear on saturday evening as always happy and smiling. Colin Dodds was swimming with friends in Bishop Auckland when he got into trouble in the water.
Police, fire, search and rescue teams, the police helicopter, air ambulance and a rescue helicopter from RAF Boulmer all worked through the night to try and find him. His body was found in the early hours of this morning.
Tragedy has struck a family a third time after the death of their son who drowned in a river in County Durham at the weekend.
