Hundreds of jobs could be created in York

Hundreds of jobs could be created as a new UK office for an insurance company is built in York.

The city's council say they have been working closely with Hiscox and York-based business S Harrison Group to support the company's move to the Hungate site in the city centre.

The development of the site, which is up before the full council in October, will allow for an office for Hiscox, as well as the development of an £18m 262-bedroom hotel.

More than 500 jobs could be created through the development.
