Police officers injured after stolen car collision
Two police officers were left injured after their patrol car collided with a vehicle fleeing a crime scene at 5am on October 6. The officers were on their way to investigate a burglary on Carlisle Way in Holystone, North Tyneside, when they drove into a car that had been stolen in the burglary.
One officer suffered concussion and the other has whiplash, both were taken to North Tyneside Hospital.
– Chief Superintendent Steve Neill, of North Tyneside Area Command"Incidents of this nature which resulted in injury to two officers during the course of their duties, are relatively unusual in our region.
"We have officers carrying out house to house enquiries in the area and extra uniform patrols are in the area to reassure residents."
Two men aged 40 and 56 have been arrested on suspicion of burglary.
