A convicted murderer, who was on the run for 12 years, is back behind bars.
Alan Byrne shot and killed a security guard in 1985.
He was serving a life sentence at Durham's Frankland prison when he went on the run.
Byrne had escaped when masked men with guns freed him during a hospital appointment in Newcastle.
