Thousands get pay rise in Living Wage upgrade
Newcastle Council has introduced a so-called 'Living Wage' for its workers, ensuring that every worker gets paid at least £7.20 an hour.
Workers have now received their first pay cheque at the new rate, with as many as 2,200 people receiving a rise.
