Idea proposed for new major North East airport

A transport expert from Middlesbrough has put forward the idea for a new major airport to be built in the North East.

The new international airport would replace the existing airports at Durham Tees Valley and Newcastle, and would be built north of Peterlee.

If the idea is approved the new airport could be bigger than the airport in Manchester.
