A piece of Newcastle's history is sold off to help its future

Newcastle City Council is selling off a piece of the city's heritage in a bid to help plug a £90 million funding gap.

The carriage is valued at £80,000 and has been seen on Newcastle's streets for the last two hundred years - acting as coach to the Lord Mayor.

The Lord Mayor's official coach, which has been pulled through the streets of the city for more than two hundred years, is going up for a sale to help plug a funding gap for Newcastle City Council.
