A student from Sunderland University, who was shot in the head whilst on holiday with his family in Pakistan, has had pioneering surgery to have the bullet removed.

Student flown 4000 miles for surgery to save his sight

Ummad Farooq was shot in Karachi on October 19th and had to be flown nearly 4000 miles back to the UK for specialist treatment.

The 22-year-old's sight has potentially been saved because of the hour long procedure, as the bullet had lodged next to his right eye.
