The latest unemployment figures show a further drop in the North East - 127,000 people were out of work in the three months to September - a fall of 7,000.
But the region still has the highest jobless rate in the country at 9.8 per cent.
Employment Minister, Mark Hoban MP, said there is still more progress needed to be done in the North East.
