Business Minister, Michael Fallon, has been in Northumberland to officially open a new manufacturing site.
Tharsus has benefited from almost £700,000 of Regional Growth Fund money.
The company in Blyth, which designs and manufactures electromechanical products, has created 80 jobs in the region.
They have also taken on some apprentices who lost their jobs when the nearby Alcan aluminium smelter closed earlier this year.
Mr Fallon said the new site will provide young people with the opportunity to stay in the North East and develop their skills here.
