Full Report: Government to re-examine Friarage plans
Health bosses are disappointed after councillors voted to refer a row about the future of Northallerton's Friarage Hospital to the Government. Both sides reached stalemate over plans to downgrade maternity and children's services.
Now, the final decision will be made by the Health Secretary, Jeremy Hunt. The council and local people met last night in the latest stage of their fight to keep the current services.
