Mowbray ready for Birmingham clash

Competition: Npower Championship

Venue: St Andrews

Kick-off: Fri 30 Nov, 7:45pm

Middlesbrough could go level on points with Cardiff at the top of the Championship tonight - if they can take three points from their match away to Birmingham.

Midfielder Grant Leadbitter is rated doubtful for the game after suffering from a calf injury. Meanwhile, Jonathan Woodgate (calf), Faris Haroun (calf) and George Friend (hamstring) all are unavailable.

The clash at St Andrew's will be Boro's third in six days. Speaking ahead of the match, Tony Mowbray said: "We're not complaining. We understand what the Championship's like and sometimes if you can get on a roll it's a positive.

"If you're winning every three days it's a great boost and the team can go into the next one in bright mood.

"This week, a tough away game to finish. We've got to travel to Birmingham. A big city club. Big support. Big expectation.

"Not having the season at the moment that they would want I don't think. We've got to try and go and capitalise on that and give them a tough game. But I'm sure they will try and make life difficult for us."

"There's an opportunity on Friday night for three points, which we will be going to the West Midlands and giving our very best shot to try and get."
