4G network goes live in the North East

The UK's first 4G network will be switched on in Newcastle today as 'Everything Everywhere', also known as EE, goes live in the city for the first time.

EE is the first company in the country to provide 4G mobile services - which could see mobile speeds increase up to five times that of 3G for people in the North East.

The switch-on also marks a multimillion pound investment by the company in the region.

As well as mobile services, EE hopes to improve fibre broadband services in the area.
