Witnesses sought after Middlesbrough hit-and-run

Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman was injured in a hit-and-run in Middlesbrough on Boxing Day.

The incident happened in a car park close to a Spar shop on Acklam Road in the town centre at around 6pm.

The 79-year-old, who was knocked down as she crossed the car park, suffered from cuts and bruises. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene.

Officers are trying to trace a man who gave the woman a lift home after the incident, as he may be able to help with their inquiries.

Anyone who saw a people carrier leave the scene, or anyone with information is asked to contact Cleveland Police on 101.
