Full report: Police hunt convicted killer

A convicted killer has escaped from a secure hospital in Newcastle.

Phillip Westwater, who is originally from Newcastle, was detained under the Mental Health Act 20 years ago. Northumbria Police say the 44-year-old should not be approached.

Escaped killer back in hospital

Convicted killer Phillip Westwater, 44, who was dubbed the Black Dog Strangler, has been found and detained after escaping from a secure psychiatric hospital in Newcastle.
