A couple from Billingham were forced to deliver their baby at home when Tracie Jefferson's waters broke suddenly on New Year's Day.
45-year-old John Nicholson delivered baby Tyler on the bathroom floor of their home in Billingham when his partner went into labour five days early.
Mr Nicholson then saved baby Tyler from turning blue by unwrapping the umbilical cord that had wound its way around the baby's neck.
Paramedics arrived on the scene several minutes after Tyler's birth and the mother and child were then taken to hospital for checks.
Both mother and baby are now back home and doing fine.
