Newcastle United have yet to comment on reports that captain Fabricio Coloccini wants to leave the club.
Newspaper reports have suggested that the 30-year-old is eager to return to his native Argentina as soon as possible for personal reasons. However, the player has not submitted a formal transfer request.
Coloccini has become a fan favourite since his £10.3 million from Spanish side Deportivo in 2003. The Argentina international also signed a new four-year contract with the Magpies last year.
