Almost £300,000 has been awarded to a North East charity focussed on helping people find more secure long-term employment.
The WM Morrison Darlington Enterprise Trust is one of four organisations in the region to receive a grant from the Big Lottery Fund's (Big) Reaching Communities programme.
The project, run in partnership with Darlington Credit Union, will help people find more secure employment and also prevent people struggling with debt from falling prey to loan sharks and doorstep lenders.
It will help about 1,100 people who have been unemployed for less than 12 months and who are not eligible for statutory employment programmes.
– Diane Woodcock, chief executive at WM Morrison Darlington Enterprise Trust
This grant from the Big Lottery Fund is fantastic news to start off the New Year.
Funding like this is crucial in the current climate and economic downturn."
