Detectives will hand out leaflets to supporters going to this afternoon's Newcastle game against Reading at St James's park to appeal for help over the murder of a well know Magpie fan.
John Roberts was found dead in his home in Winlaton in Gateshead on December 16th. The 32 year old was a regular at St James's Park and was known amongst fellow fans as John 'The Badge'. Detectives will give out leaflets with a picture of Mr Roberts and details of his murder to appeal for help.
The murder team will also be in Winlaton tonight to hand out more leaflets to people living close to Mr Roberts's home in the hope of discovering new leads.
We need to track down and speak to anyone who might have seen Mr Roberts that Saturday evening. I'd urge anyone who thinks they saw him perhaps walking back from the shop or anywhere in the area to contact us with any information at all"
