A pedestrian has been killed after a collision with a car in the small North Yorkshire town of Stokesley. It happened just after twelve o'clock yesterday afternoon when a silver Range Rover hit the pedestrian and a wall of a building on the town's North Road.
Police say the occupants of the Range Rover were seen running from the vehicle following the crash. One was arrested nearby and a search is now ongoing to locate the others.
Officers are asking anyone who witnessed the crash or may know who the vehicle's occupants are to come forward.
'It’s vital that we find who is responsible for this tragedy and establish the exact circumstances which led to it.
“I’m therefore appealing to anyone who has any information, including anyone who may be shielding occupants of the Range Rover, to do the right thing and report what they know to the police.'
A fifteen year old boy remains in police custody.
