Newcastle United are understood to have held talks with club captain Fabricio Coloccini in a bid to resolve his future.
Rumours have been circulating in recent weeks that the 31-year-old is eager to leave Tyneside and return to his native Argentina. His former club San Lorenzo have already confirmed their interest in the player. However, Coloccini has not submitted a formal transfer request.
Magpies officials are believed to have met with Coloccini on Monday but discussions were inconclusive.
