Libraries across North Tyneside will host a series of cancer awareness sessions run by Cancer Research UK.
The charity has teamed up with North Tyneside Council to provide specialist nurses who will run drop-in sessions.
The service is designed to support people who are coping with cancer, and offer advice to help others reduce their risk of developing the disease.
Body mass index (BMI) checks and Smokerlyzer tests, which measure the amount of carbon monoxide in the lungs and bloodstream, will also be available.
– Lesley Green, Cancer Research UK's senior cancer awareness nurse
"We hope to talk to members of the public, men and women, young and old, about how cancer can be prevented and detected."
