Full Report: Holocaust survivor tells his story
Sunday 27th January is Holocaust Memorial Day - the date was chosen because it is the anniversary of the liberation of the largest concentration camp, Auschwitz-Birkenau.
Today Day candles were lit and a service held to remember the victims of the Holocaust..
84-year-old Otto Deutsch was ten-years-old when he was taken from Vienna to the UK as part of the Kindertransport evacuation.
He was then taken in by a family in Morpeth.
His parents and sister, who at 17 was too old to join the evacuation, were shot and killed in a Nazi camp.
He spoke of his memories at the service.
