WEATHER: Goodbye BIG FREEZE, Hello QUICK THAW

Lauder sheep in snow by HEATHER RUNCIMAN

A wet and windy spell moves in for this evening and overnight. Some heavy outbreaks are expected and there could be in excess of 2 inches of rainfall by Sunday lunchtime.

This morning there was 33cm of snow depth recorded at Redesdale Camp - another 10cm of fresh snow on top of what we already had.

With temperatures recovering and more rain on it's way the Met Office has issued a Yellow 'Be Aware' warning for the risk of localised flooding with a quick thaw.
