A kayaker who died when he got into difficulties in a swollen river has been named as Matthew Baird-Parker. His family say that he was active, and full of life.
He became tangled up in a tree yesterday afternoon on the River Arkle, near Reeth in the Yorkshire Dales.
Dozens of local volunteers went out to try and rescue him.
