Mowbray: Dyer still 'a top player'
Middlesbrough boss Tony Mowbray says he's looking forward to seeing winger Kieron Dyer in action.
The former Newcastle United player joined Boro on a four-month contract on Thursday after being released by Queens Park Rangers in early January. He's been given the number 12 shirt.
The 34-year-old has been included in Middesbrough's squad for the match against his boyhood club Ipswich Town on Saturday. Mowbray said Dyer could be an invaluable signing. He said: "I've known Kieron a long, long time. I probably played in his debut at Ipswich when he was 17.
"Even at such a young age he was a fabulous footballer with understanding of the game. He's obviously had injury problems for a lot of years. People keep throwing statistics at me of how many games he's played in how long.
"Hopefully he plays, and we get the benefits of a top player enjoying his football."
