Widespread snow showers at first, these gradually becoming less frequent and largely confined to the west of the region by later tonight.
Some snow accumulations will occur, especially over the Pennines. Remaining very windy, with gales over higher ground. Minimum temperature -2 °C.
Outlook: Milder weather on the way
As High Pressure and settled weather moves south & east, milder & (eventually) more unsettled conditions develop from the south and west.
Less cold over the coming week
After a week of temperatures struggling to get much higher than zero, the week ahead provides a slight improvement.
