Hundreds turn out for Sunderland jobs

Hundreds of job seekers turned out in Sunderland today hoping for a job in a newly-built supermarket.

Nearly eight hundred people were at the Civic Centre looking for roles at the new Tesco store that is set to open in June.

120 jobs are up for grabs, with half set aside for the long-term unemployed or young people seeking their first job.

The council says that the huge turnout shows unemployed people in the city are keen to gain employment.
