Former Sunderland and Newcastle United striker Louis Saha has joined Italian side Lazio on a free transfer.

The 34-year-old became a free agent on transfer deadline day last month when his contract with the Black Cats was cancelled by mutual consent. The former France international has now joined the Serie A club after German forward Miroslav Klose was ruled out for two months with a knee injury.

Saha, who had a loan spell with the Magpies in 1999, signed a one-year deal with Sunderland last summer but made just two starts and a total of 14 appearances on Wearside.
