Antique jewellery and coins stolen in Tyneside burglary

Police are appealing for witnesses after an elderly woman had cash and jewellery stolen from her house in a burglary on North Tyneside.

The burglary happened between two o'clock on the afternoon of Thursday February 7th, and before nine o'clock on the morning of Saturday February 9th at Parkside.

Burglars broke in through a door and stole cash, antique jewellery and old coins - some dating back to the 1800s.

The house belongs to an elderly woman who was not at home when the burglary took place.

"The burglary has left the victim extremely upset and some irreplaceable items have been stolen.

I'd urge anyone offered the items for sale - particularly the old coins, which are quite distinctive, - or anyone who knows of their whereabouts to contact us.

I'd also ask anyone who saw suspicious activity at the house since Saturday February 2nd, or who witnessed the burglary, to get in touch with us as soon as possible."
