Arrests made after Northumberland assault

Police have arrested five people after an assault took place at an address in Northumberland.

The assault happened on the evening of Tuesday February 12th in Wheatridge in Seaton Delaval, when a group of people went inside the house and assaulted a man.

The 25-year-old suffered a stab wound to his shoulder and is currently at the RVI hospital in Newcastle receiving treatment. His condition is not believed to be life threatening.

Anyone who witnessed a disturbance at the address or has information about what happened is asked to contact police.

Five people have been arrested in connection with the incident - a man aged 18 and woman aged 22 on suspicion of aggravated burglary, a 46-year-old man and a 22-year-old woman on suspicion of causing GBH with intent, and a 23-year-old man on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon.

"At this stage it's not believed this was a random incident and five arrests have been made.

Enquiries are ongoing to establish exactly what happened."
