Campaign to stop phone-scamming

Experts are warning people to stay on alert for phone scams, in a new campaign to raise awareness of the ever more sophisticated tactics scammers are using to steal from members of the public.

In recent years, scams ranging from PPI, to internet and email scams, phishing and medical scams have become the focus of security concerns, but a new campaign is being launched today to increase awareness of scammers who are using landlines and mobile phones to fool unsuspecting victims.

Research released today shows that more than 70% of people have been targets of phone scams, with close to 40% saying they have received a scam phone call in the last month.

More than a third have been affected by a computer security phone scam.
