Three arrested after South Shields attack

Three men have been arrested after an attack in South Shields that left a man hospitalised with a fractured skull.

Around 9:25pm on Friday February 8th, a 35-year-old man was walking in South Eldon Street when he was approached by a group of men who assaulted him.

He remains in the RVI hospital in Newcastle in a stable condition.

The three men - two aged 23 and one 26 - have been arrested on suspicion of robbery while police continue to appeal for witnesses to come forward.
