The warship HMS Dauntless has berthed in North Shields where its crew will be involved in events taking place in the region over the next four days.
On Sunday, HMS Dauntless will host an open day for members of the public to get on board and to see the ship with their own eyes.
Commander Adrian Fryer spoke to ITV News about the importance of events like this weekend at showing the public the work that the crew does in their name.
