Grants have been awarded to three people from the North East to acquire knowledge from overseas to bring back for the benefit of others in their communities.
The trio receiving the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust Fellowships will travel to three continents between them and carry out a range of projects.
Paula Turner, a dancer from Gateshead, will visit Australia, the US and Europe to examine improvisation and circles as models for community wellbeing.
Frances Ridley, an outreach manager from Durham, will travel to the US to research university and community partnerships.
And Matthew Bower, a Newcastle support walker, will travel to Australia to investigate alternative approaches to the needs of homeless populations.
