Police are appealing for witnesses after a crash in Hebburn where a man was taken to hospital with potentially life threatening injuries.
The crash happened just after 10.30 this morning (Wednesday 13 March) on Hedgley Road in Hebburn and involved a Citroen Xsara. No other vehicles were involved.
A 56-year-old man has been taken to South Tyneside Hospital.
A small section of road has been closed to allow for a crash investigation to take place.
Anyone with information about the crash is asked to contact police on the 101 non-emergency number.
