Business leaders sleep out to fight homelessness

Business leaders in the North East will swap the luxury of their comfortable beds for a night sleeping rough to raise money for charity.

The CEO Sleepout will see more than 30 of the region's leading business people sleeping rough to raise awareness and funds to fight Teesside's homelessness problem.

The event, organised by Middlesbrough and Teesside Philanthropic Foundation, will take place at the Ayresome Park gates outside Middlesbrough Football Club's Riverside Stadium on March 16.

The business leaders will be given sleeping bags and expected to sleep rough whatever the weather.

The Middlesbrough and Teesside Philanthropic Foundation allocates funds to assist community groups within Middlesbrough and the rest of Teesside.

This is an incredible local event of national business significance; we believe it to be the UK's first executive sleep out. I want it to become an annual event that spreads to other areas across the UK.

"We aim to raise awareness of homelessness issues, generate vital funds to support our society's most needy and give those taking part an experience that is likely to live with them for a very long time".
