Players past and present came together last night at St James’ Park to welcome the first inductees into the Newcastle United Foundation’s Hall of Fame.
Kevin Keegan's famous ‘Entertainers’ team were among the first to be recognised. They were represented by Alan Shearer, Rob Lee, Faustino Asprilla and John Beresford amongst others.
Shearer and Peter Beardsley were also inducted into the Hall of Fame individually, along with Fairs Cup-winning captain Bob Moncur.
Lady Elsie Robson attended the event and she said she was extremely proud as her husband, the late Sir Bobby, became the first manager in the Magpies' Hall of Fame.
There were also posthumous honours for Jackie Milburn and Hughie Gallacher, and recognition of Newcastle's great FA Cup winning team of the 1950's.
