Appeal for driver to come forward after A692 crash

Police investigating a crash in which a man died this morning are appealing for a driver who may have stopped at the scene, to come forward.

The crash happened on the A692 Lobley Hill Road at Byer Moor in Gateshead just after five o'clock this morning.

A man in his thirties was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle where he later died and a second man is being treated for a head injury.

Police are appealing for anyone who saw the black Renault Clio in the area around the time of the crash to contact them.
