Professor Peter Higgs awarded another honour

A scientist from Newcastle, who gave his name to the Higgs boson particle, has been given the Edinburgh Medal for his work. Professor Peter Higgs came up with the concept of a "God particle", which gives matter mass, in 1964.

The honour is given annually to recognise contributions to science.
