Police are becoming increasingly concerned about the whereabouts of a 46-year-old man who has gone missing from his home in South Hetton.
Colin Anthony Bell, who lives with his parents in Jubilee Square, South Hetton, did not return home after taking his dog out for its usual walk last night.
The dog, a Bedlington terrier, was later found wandering on its own by a member of the public.
Police are carrying out extensive enquiries in the area and have been joined by members of the local community.
- 6 feet 2 inches tall
- Of medium build
- Short grey hair
- He was believed to be wearing a blue Parka-like jacket with red stripes down the sleeves, and jeans
– Chief Inspector Karen Naunton
“We are concerned for Colin’s safety as it’s out of character for him not to return home like this and the weather is atrocious.
"He usually walks the dog on routes near his home and always returns safe and well.”
Anyone who sees someone matching Colin’s description, or remembers seeing him walking his dog last night, is asked to ring Durham Police on 101.
