Police officers spoke to a 17-year-old girl and told her to go home, while she was with one of two men who raped her. The teenager had been thrown out of a club in Newcastle for being drunk. Officers spoke to the girl in Times Square but then left her with the man and the attack continued.
Chief Superintendent Gary Calvert said the girl and the man appeared to be together.
